Abstract submission for FOCIS 2008 is closed
Late-breaking abstracts may be accepted on a case by case basis if it is shown that the data in the abstract was unavailable prior to January 14 and is of exemplary scientific merit. Abstract Placement
The FOCIS Organizing Committee will have sole discretion regarding placement of abstracts within the FOCIS program. Abstracts will be considered for either an oral or poster presentation. Please indicate your preference for oral or poster presentation format during online submission.
Abstract Presentation
Contact/submitting authors must indicate a presenting author during abstract submission. This presenting author must be prepared to present the submitted abstract at FOCIS 2008 should their abstract be accepted for the meeting. Posters will not be allowed without an accompanying presenter.
Abstract Publication
Abstracts accepted for presentation and properly registered by March 4, 2008, will be published in PDF format on the FOCIS website and be distributed to all FOCIS 2008 delegates beginning on June 5.
Poster Specifications
If your abstract is selected for poster presentation, it must fit on a poster board that is eight feet wide (horizontal) by four feet high (vertical).
Deadline
The deadline for submitting abstracts is January 14, 2008. Late-breaking abstracts may be accepted on a case by case basis if it is shown that the data in the abstract was unavailable prior to January 14 and is of exemplary scientific merit.
Disclosure
Each abstract author MUST submit a completed disclosure form. If all authors have not completed a disclosure form prior to January 14, 2008, the abstract will automatically be withdrawn from consideration. This policy has been established in cooperation the ACCME guidelines.
All authors MUST submit a disclosure form by visiting http://focis2008.abstractcentral.com/login and clicking on "Create an Account" on the left-hand toolbar.
Eligibility
Members of any of the FOCIS Member Societies, Affiliate Societies or FOCIS Centers of Excellence, as well as non-members are eligible to submit abstracts.
Graphics/Charts
Graphic elements, such as charts, pictures, etc., may NOT be included in abstract submission and will not be considered.
Notification
Notification regarding acceptance or rejection of abstracts will be made to the contact author only via email by February 22, 2008. This email will contain the title, date and time of the oral or poster session in which the abstract has been programmed. Co-authors will not receive notification.

Poster Registration Policy
Abstract submitters who are accepted for a poster presentation at FOCIS 2008 MUST register to attend the meeting by March 4, 2008, for their abstract to be included in the FOCIS 2008 Abstract Supplement and their poster to be scheduled in a poster session. Submitters who are accepted, but do not register will be considered withdrawals, and will not be included in the Final Program or Abstract Supplement.
Prior Publication
Abstracts that have been or will be published prior to the time of presentation at FOCIS 2008 may NOT be submitted. Exception: If additional data/research is added to a previously published abstract, the abstract may be submitted.
Review Process
Abstracts will be peer-reviewed according to the categories provided. Authors must choose one subject area and one FOCIS pillar for each abstract submitted. Please indicate the subject area and pillar during online submission.

Travel Awards
Travel awards are available to select abstract presenters chosen for presentation at FOCIS 2008. The number and amount of awards made is dependent upon available funds and will be based upon several factors including geographic location, placement of abstract within the FOCIS program and funds available. In 2007, FOCIS awarded over 100 travel awards. To be considered for a travel award, check the appropriate boxes when submitting abstracts online.
Requirements:
- Abstracts must be submitted through the abstract submission website at www.focisnet.org by January 14.
- Abstracts that are selected for oral presentation will be given preferential consideration.
- Travel award recipients must keep all receipts for reimbursable expenses (including FOCIS 2008 registration, airfare, hotel accommodations, etc.) and submit these receipts, along with the FOCIS reimbursement voucher, which will be given to all recipients, no later than July 23, 2008.
Withdrawals
Withdrawals of abstracts must be received in writing before February 1, 2008. Abstracts may not be withdrawn after this day.
