How does FOCIS reach out to Member Societies?
In 2007-2008, FOCIS proudly...
- Listed all 20 Member Societies on the FOCIS website with links to their website and listed 11 of the 16 Affiliate Societies on the website with links.
- Listed Member Societies on all promotional materials for the FOCIS Annual Meeting and other initiatives.
- Extended complimentary booth space to Member Societies to give them the opportunity to present their organizations’ materials at the FOCIS 2007 & 2008 Exhibit Halls.
- Extended travel grants for Member Society representatives that serve on the FOCIS Steering Committee so they can attend annual Steering Committee meeting and participate in scientific sessions.
- Offered reduced registration for Member Societies’ members at FOCIS 2007 and FOCIS 2008. More than 1,000 members of FOCIS Member and Affiliate Societies participated in FOCIS 2007 at reduced rates.
- Provided Member Societies an opportunity to collaborate with a broad-based group of clinician scientists to educate the community, physicians, trainees, and patients in the broad discipline of clinical immunology.
- Extended an ongoing opportunity to list meeting and news on the FOCIS website.

FOCIS does not represent a competing membership organization to its member societies, but a way to bring interested clinician scientists together, enhancing the benefits you provide to your members.
Professional Development

FOCIS will continue to work toward its goal of becoming a CME accredited association, offering CME courses at the annual meeting. FOCIS currently obtains CME through joint sponsor relationships with accredited institutions.

FOCIS provides your members with the opportunity to collaborate with a concentrated group of clinician scientists to educate the community, physicians, trainees, and patients in the broad discipline of clinical immunology.

FOCIS offers travel awards for trainees, fellows and junior faculty to attend the annual meeting. New investigators receive the opportunity to present their findings in oral presentations and poster presentations.

There is no membership fee associated with becoming a FOCIS Society; for the society or its individual members.

What is expected of a FOCIS Society?
FOCIS Society Roles and Responsibilities

Member Societies will appoint a society representative to the FOCIS Steering Committee. This society representative will serve a 1-6 year term at the discretion of their society. Steering Committee members are required to attend two annual Steering Committee meetings; one of which may be conducted via conference call, and the other in conjunction with the FOCIS annual meeting. Steering Committee members receive complimentary registration as well as travel reimbursement.

Member Societies will assist with the promotion of the annual FOCIS meeting and FOCIS activities, including access to the Society's mailing list for two (2) FOCIS annual meeting announcements.

Member Societies will provide a link from their website to the FOCIS website.

FOCIS Societies membership will be renewed annually through the appointment of their Steering Committee representative.
