FOCIS Centers of Excellence Collaboration Travel Grants

In an effort to further expand the FCE network, and to support the FOCIS strategy of elevating FOCIS’s presence globally, FOCIS is pleased to offer a brand new travel grant opportunity available exclusively to FCEs: the FCE Collaboration Travel Grant.

The purpose of the travel grant is to facilitate communication and scientific exchange among centers in the FCE network by providing financial support for collaboration and / or research-sharing opportunities.

The number and amount of grants are based upon several factors. For 2023, FOCIS is pleased to offer two grants of $1,500 each supporting collaboration between two or more FCEs outside of the FOCIS annual meeting. As such, award funds cannot be used to attend FOCIS educational courses or the FOCIS Annual Meeting.

Grant Requirements

Eligibility Requirements

  • Open to FCEs and FOCIS members only
  • All organizations involved must be FCEs
  • Individual participants must be affiliated with a FOCIS FCE and be FOCIS members prior to the start of the project

Submission Requirements

  • Description of the proposed collaboration or travel plan, including a description of the project, the objectives, the technique to be learned, and how it will affect the project (if applicable)
  • Applicant CVs
  • Letter of support from the principal investigators of the FCEs involved in the collaboration, especially in the case of a direct application from trainee
  • Preliminary budget and explanation of budget (max = $1,500)

Recipient Requirements

  • Project/travel to be complete within 12 months of award notification
  • Awards will be paid via reimbursement in accordance with FOCIS reimbursement guidelines
  • Recipient will submit a final report of the collaboration and any outcomes generated. The final report is intended for publication in the FOCIS quarterly newsletter and on the FOCIS website and may also be shared with any external sponsors who provide funding toward the program.

Grant Deadlines

Submissions will be considered twice annually by the FCE committee. Submission deadlines are May 15 and November 15.
