The C. Garrison Fathman Fellows Fund enables trainees and fellows to attend FOCIS annual meetings, educational courses, and participate in exchange programs.
FOCIS was founded by Dr. C. Garrison Fathman and Dr. David Hafler in 2003 to improve human health through immunology by fostering interdisciplinary approaches to both understand and treat immune-based diseases. What started as an annual meeting for researchers and clinicians to share knowledge and ideas has now turned into a large federation that provides year-round education in translational immunology. Our flagship annual meeting is held every summer, and we provide live courses at several different locations throughout the year. Additionally, online educational courses are accessible 24/7. FOCIS also has FOCIS Centers of Excellence at academic medical centers around the world that accelerate innovation in investigation and clinical practice.
Ever since founding and serving as the first President of FOCIS, Dr. Fathman has shown a continued commitment to provide high-quality education for fellows and trainees throughout the immunology community. In honor of his support of FOCIS, the FOCIS Board of Directors voted in the summer of 2012 to establish the C. Garrison Fathman Fellows Fund.
