Call for Committee Members is Now Open
Thanks for being part of the FOCIS community!
As you may know, FOCIS’s mission is to apply the science of immunology to improve human health through interdisciplinary research, education, communication, and collaboration. Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization. Dedicated committee members broaden our organizational impact, strengthen the member experience, and connect the immunology community.
Please consider contributing your time and talents to advance our mission.
Below you will find the different committees you can join:
• Communications Committee: this is a newly formed group that will report on what is necessary to execute the strategic plan and evaluate FOCIS’s communications strategy and tactics. The Communications Committee is responsible for creating, revising, and overseeing the annual communications plan, communication guidelines, social media channels, and online forums. They also suggest innovative methods for FOCIS to interact with its members and other individuals through different forms of media.
• DEI-focused Committee: this committee will broaden the impact and representation of the existing Women in Clinical Immunology Committee (WICI). Coming soon!
• Education Committee: this committee oversees the creation of educational programs that maintain, develop, and increase the knowledge, understanding, skills, and professional performance of trainees and investigators in the broad field of clinical immunology and that enable basic scientists to understand the pathogenesis of immunological disease and the principles of clinical research.
• Membership & Scientific Outreach Committee: this committee develops criteria for membership, both how to gain and how to maintain membership within FOCIS for individuals and Member Societies.

2024 Timeline:
April 9: Call for volunteers opens
May 3: Call for volunteers closes
May 4-30: Applicants reviewed with committee chairs and selections made
May 31: Accepted applicants notified of appointments, including an invitation to attend the committee’s meeting held during FOCIS 2024 (attend in-person or via Zoom)
July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2026: Committee member 2-year term of service
