FOCISed Courses & Big Data Workshop

Course updates below:

The three education programs held before the FOCIS 2024 Annual Meeting are listed below.

On Monday, the Systems Immunology Course (full day) is held.

On Tuesday, both the Basic Immunology in Medicine Course (full day) and the Big Data in Immunology (ImmPort) Workshop (half-day, morning) are held.

Advanced registration is required for all education programs. Register for one or two days of education – package rates are available. Add the optional FOCIS 2024 Annual Meeting registration when registering. Register today!

Please note that the Cancer Immunity & Immunotherapy Course is no longer taking place in 2024.

Basic Immunology in Medicine Course new date!

This popular one-day course provides a sophisticated review of select basic immunology topics, with an emphasis on recent advances and issues that are relevant to the pathogenesis and treatment of immune-mediated diseases.

This course is designed for practicing clinicians, trainees, and individuals in biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies who are involved in the development of therapies for immunological diseases.

*Please note that this course now will take place on Tuesday, June 18, 2024*

Systems 1

Systems Immunology Course

Attend this course to obtain a conceptual framework of the main modeling, analysis and visualization technologies along with methodological principles for their application to translational research projects. The course will also provide a better basic understanding of modern statistical and mathematical concepts necessary for their analysis and interpretation.

The course is aimed at scientists involved or interested in the use of multi-dimensional data generated by modern genomics and proteomics technologies such as mass/flow cytometry, next-generation sequencing, and microarrays.

Big Data 1

Big Data in Immunology Workshop

Attend the workshop to hear from scientists who have published on repurposed data. Plus, attend for a hands-on introduction to the ImmPort database and become familiar with mining the ImmPort data. Experts from the Immunology Database and Analysis Portal (ImmPort) will teach the workshop.

The open-access ImmPort database provides publicly available clinical trial and immunology research datasets and bioinformatics tools for analyses. ImmPort is an NIAID-funded data repository created to share NIAID-funded data with the scientific research community. ImmPort currently shares over 400 studies with new data released quarterly.
